a letter when you forget your worth.

when you forget your worth.Dear beautiful,

I say beautiful knowing that you won’t believe me.

I never believed it either. Loving yourself is a fight. A battle between who you are and who you think you should be. It is not going to be easy—a war never is.

But you, my darling, are worth fighting for.

There are going to be days when you don’t feel worthy; today might be one of them. If so, I dare you to keep fighting.

Get up in the morning, tie your shoes, swing your backpack over your shoulder, and face the day. I know when you get back to your room, instead of smiling in the mirror, you will break down in tears. You will ask yourself what’s the point? You will tell yourself that no one likes you and you believe it.

But you fight. And you wake up tomorrow to do it all over again.

There is honor in not giving up.

There is shame if you lay in bed, shoes untied, backpack slumped on the floor, with your face hidden from the world.

Remember that God, the one who molds mountains, hugs clouds, and paints sunsets, thought you were worth fighting for. Actually, he thought you were worth dying for.

God wrote the perfect love story with you as the one Jesus loved so much to rescue. When did you forget that you are a part of the story? The author, God, describes you as

“I am my beloved’s, and he desires me.” Song of Solomon 7:10

“You didn’t choose me, remember; I chose you.” John 15:16

That’s how much you mean to me! That’s how much I love you! I’d sell off the whole world to get you back, trade the creation just for you.” Isaiah 43:4

And when you are crushed by the battle and can’t go on,

“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Exodus 14:14

Even at your weakest, you are still worth fighting for. You don’t have to prove yourself to anyone. But when you cannot love yourself, let God love you. Live in His perfect love until you learn to love yourself. Breathe. Remember the battle has already been won on the cross.

Keep fighting for the day when someone tells you that you’re beautiful and you smile back because you already know that you are.

One day you will.

Fighting right along side you,

Song//My Recovery by Unspoken

“People with their minds set on you, you keep completely whole, Steady on their feet, because they keep at it and don’t quit. Depend on God and keep at it because in the Lord God you have a sure thing.” Isaiah 26:3

ps: don’t forget that comparison is the thief of joy.
